Well, I don't use KDE much, so I'm not sure what would
be in there.  My guess is that you should be OK by
making a tar-file archive of that directory (on some
other partition), and then removing it.

Reboot.

See how things are working.

Reminder warning: I don't use KDE (and in fact, it's pretty
rare that I run X at all as root).
