Sorry I wasn't clear on this point.

All the entries are indeed FQDN entries.

To use your terms, the machine is "foo.bar.com", and it handles mail
for the "bar.com" domain.  Since all outgoing mail is rewriten to
"mailhost.bar.com", and it also handles mail for "baz.com" and
"www.frob.com", I have

--- /etc/sendmail.cR ---
foo.bar.com
bar.com
mailhost.bar.com
baz.com
www.frob.com
--- /etc/sendmail.cR ---
