Hello,

I am using FreeBSD for our proxy machine and squid for the proxy
program.
The machine has 256MB memory and squid's size is just 130MB
but if I start a program lets say which uses 10MB memory I see that
the used swap space is moving from 5MB to 100MB I believe that FreeBSD
is putting squid process to swap for some reason and if I shutdown
squid and restart it everything changes back to normal.

I wonder if I had 512MB ram and the squid was occupying 400MB memory
and if I start another application then FreeBSD will try to move squid
into swap? but I only have 256MB swap space.

What may happen in that condition?

thanks!

Evren
