Subject:   HP Omnibook XE2-db:   XFree86 4.3.0 core dumps

After installing XFree86 4.3.0 via ports to the omnibook, I built the
config file using xf86config utility.  When I try to run startx, XFree86
goes through it's startup routine and the screen flickers like it is about
to go into graphics mode.  It then core dumps and returns to the command
line.

I have found a bunch of stuff online about using this laptop with XFree86
v3 ... but nothing for v4.

According to
http://h200005.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/bpi03591/bpi03591.pdf
This video chip is "SMI LynxE SM811 graphics controller with 2-MB 135-MHZ
SGRAM"

Anyone have any advice?
