 Ok - after commenting out the FORBIDDEN definition, I built the 
 port...

 And - wonder of wonders!  It works great!

 I tried running the other Netscape install (the one I did "by hand".)  It 
 did not run at all (same core dump.)    

 I might spend some time later figuring out what the port does
 that the free-standing install doesn't do... and, why that
 worked before and doesn't work with XF86.4.2 - but, the "standard"
 answer should be:

	"Use the ports, Luke"
