If you have a cable or DSL connection, you can probably answer Yes when sysinstall asks you if you want to configure with DHCP or see what whoever set up your machine plugged into your Windows network settings. These aren't FreeBSD things, they're TCP/IP things. If you don't have at least a general idea of what goes on when you connect to the net, you might be better off buying (or downloading the ISO and burning) an installation CD. That way when you are ready to connect to the net with your FreeBSD you'll have all the man pages and other documentation available while you're working on it. -- I've always wanted to be a dilettante, but I've never quite been ready to make the commitment.
