Well, I was a little bit too fast in reporting this. It probes and it goes
up and down when I tell it to do so.

But on a related topic: the Adaptec 29160N SCSI controller works. Perhaps
the sentence about the need of OpenFirmware for these controllers in the
release notes is misleading. You need a 2940-OF only when you are going to
boot from it.
