Works fine for me on my Sony Z505 (running 4.3-Stable from July)
and an older Toshiba I set up for a friend (running 4.4-Release)
I don't have the model of the Toshiba, it is in Florida and I
am, well, NOT :-)

The following line in kernel config
device          apm

and this line in /etc/rc.conf
apm_enable="YES"
