Um, more accurately, it's required for some P100 systems.  It's kinda hard
to tell without trying, and it goes beyond mere speed.

For example, the Soyo boards we're using here are Triton-based, and you
would expect them to require 60ns DRAMs.  However, they work fine with
70ns Panasonic DRAMs, but not with Motorola or Mitsubishi 70ns parts.

Go figure 8)

I would hope that your supplier is willing to swap the Bt946C for an NCR-
-based SCSI controller.  The 946 may give you grief, and the NCR is both
cheaper and better supported.  (And certainly no slower...)
