Thanks for the notification; yes, it seems that both the math/blas and math/lapack ports install versions of the blas library. However, the math/blas port installs a libblas.1 library, while math/lapack installs libblas.2; such a change in shared libraries' version numbers usually indicates an API change or major internal overhauls. Can you verify that the science/mpb port actually works with the libblas.2 library installed by the math/lapack port? If so, I will commit your science/mpb/Makefile patch.
