Adam W. Dace stands accused of saying: > > The only problem is, for some reason FreeBSD can't seem to find my > secondary IDE controller (on which is a hard drive dedicated to > Linux/to-be-FreeBSD). It sounds like this controller is doing something funny/nonstandard. You're not too specific about your hardware, so it's hard to tell whether you've just got a dodgy controller that doesn't respond like it should, or whether something more sinister (eg. PCI hardware) is involved. > I'm also wondering why it is that it sees my primary IDE controller, but > not my secondary. Does FreeBSD use BIOS for these things? My AMI WinBIOS > has from the start always denied the existence of my secondary controller > (i.e. I can configure it, but it won't admit it's there, gives an error). Sounds like the controller is really borderline. Unless it's embedded in the motherboard, I'd ditch it and get a better one. > | Adam W.
