 Yeah, that seems to be my problem as well. There's not a lot to find about 
FreeBSD and the ext2fs on the net.

 Although this does not answer the question how to use the new "sparse 
superblock" ext2fs in rw mode, I will heed the warning. As long as I don't 
solve this one I am in no danger though, since I can only mount my linux 
partitions read only.
 I was wondering, are there people that could verify the (in)stability of 
using ext2 under FreeBSD? Were/are these problems caused by the ext2fs code or 
are they related to the VFS? Pointers to answers to those kind of questions 
are welcomed. Thanks in advance,
