The file is removed by pkg-plist upon deinstall if it is still empty, but I understand it is better handled by pkg-install/pkg-deinstall pair. I guess the original intention of the symlink of example is to keep compatibility with the original (non-port) mailagent installation. I think it is okay to install them in one place and notify user in pkg-message.
