FWIW, I've quickly tested Digest::SHA256 in the following
configurations:

6.0, GCC 3.4.4, perl 5.8.7: broken
5.4, GCC 3.4.2, perl 5.8.7: broken
5.4, GCC 3.2.3, perl 5.8.7: broken
4.11, GCC 2.95.4, perl 5.00503: ok
4.11, GCC 3.2.3, perl 5.00503: ok

Cheers,
Dan
