Which particular 505 ? 'PCG505' covers a wide range of very different
machines. There are people here using Freebsd on most of them, though.

Isn't that a cardbus network card ? Cardbus support isn't ready for
primetime yet.

When you boot from the cdrom you're using it as an emulated device, not
the device the install process is looking for. For it to work from
the install process you have to have pcmcia working. I've done this
on an older 505 with no problems.

Did you give the pcmcia controller an IRQ ? I believe the default
these days is to not use an IRQ but every sony I've used needs
one. When you first boot and get "booting in foo seconds" or similar,
type 'boot -cv' and assign irq 10 to pcic0.

Then boot and from the install choice tell it to use irq 3 for the card.

Try that with a non-cardbus card.
