Hi everybody! I've downloaded FreeBSD a few weeks ago. I am trying to install it on an old laptop. The installation goes well and I can do what I want, except my ethernet card just won't work. I've tried several releases of FreeBSD, from 4.8 to the latest 5.1 . The card is a PCMCIA card, the label says '3Com 3CXE589ET Megahertz 10Mbps LAN Card with X-Jack-Connector' and it's in the list of supported cards in /etc/defaults/pccard.conf . When I insert the card, I get a message like 'no card in database for (null) (null)'. As suggested in previos messages on this list, I've tried to change the IRQ and the 'memory 0xd4000 96k'-line to the values that are listed in the pccardd man-page. I've also made sure that the card is ok, it works with windows and linux, also on other laptops. Since it is an old laptop, I would very much apprechiate it if anyone could help me on this without having to recompile the kernel. If you need any more information, let me know but be informed that i cannot post any dmsg-output since the floppy drive broke. Thank you and regards, Ali -- +++ GMX - Mail, Messaging & more http://www.gmx.net +++ Bitte lächeln! Fotogalerie online mit GMX ohne eigene Homepage!
