You might want to ask on x11@ (there may be other ports to recompile).
The screensavers (the hacks, that is) haven't changed in a long time,
and all the GL modules work just fine for me with nvidia, radeonhd, and
i810 drivers.

If you're using gnome-screensaver, you shouldn't even have
xscreensaver-gnome installed.  Instead, you should just have
xscreensaver-gnome-hacks installed.
