Jim: Thanks for your help. I have locally installed the ports tree and resolved my problem by: -editing the /usr/ports/mail/mailman/Makefile to use "MAIL_GID? = 65534" -make (which fetches from the Internet since no local source could be found) -make install -configure mailman Problem solved!
