 It does not found libdar on my clean 5.3-BETA2 box:

 checking for libdar... configure: error: required library not found. 
 Please install libdar.

 of the failure of your make command. Also, it might be a good idea to

 /var/db/pkg`).

 Stop in /usr/ports/sysutils/kdar.
