I think you're just running into a limit of how fast you can suck bytes across the pccard bus. The only advantage of these cards, really, is that you can connect to a 100Mbit-only network, should you come across such a beast. The 20% speed boost is just a bonus :-) 3Com make a 10/100 card as well...anyone got any numbers for that?
