How about changing sysinstall to use a somewhat larger default size for
the root file system?  With disks as cheap as they are these days, why
not size it at 100MB or so?  Then you'll have a bit more room for
debugging kernels.  I've always found the default size sysinstall chooses
too small for comfort, even when putting /tmp on a different file system.
