Speaking of the 21st century, a decent e-mail user agent (like mutt) can be
configured to take you to the bottom of the message with one or two
keystrokes, and a modern email composer (like vim in conjunction with
mutt)  can automatically quote and place you at the end of the quoted
passage when replying.
