if you are referring to me, bob, then you are too kind.  i
just regurgitated what i read in tcsh man page.

i am just as guilty.  i was thought & replied the same way.  i use
bourne shell in scripts and bash as the interactive shell so didn't
think much of peter l.'s shell.
