If you run a 'ldconfig -r', you should see 
                    
                  .
                  .
        311:-lmysqlclient.6 => /usr/local/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient.so.6
        312:-lmysqlclient.10 => /usr/local/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient.so.10

ldconfig will not see the library path until a reboot, or manually putting 
it in with,

            'ldconfig -m /usr/local/lib/mysql'
