A couple of years ago, there was a guy at Sun Microelectronics who
was going to work full-time on porting FreeBSD to the UltraSPARC
AXi board. After a couple of months, he got yanked off and given
another job within Sun. A few months later Sun announced support
for Linux.

The last I heard, the "group" (one person, actually) in Italy was
planning to ask Sun for some hardware. It did not seem likely
Sun would be interested in the offer.
