I have been testing out a new MB chipset as well as some of the newer Celeron CPUs. Dmesg shows it as Dec 7 19:51:47 sata48 /kernel: CPU: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.50GHz (2500.43-MHz 686-class CPU) Dec 7 19:51:47 sata48 /kernel: Origin = "GenuineIntel" Id = 0xf29 Stepping = 9 Dec 7 19:51:47 sata48 /kernel: Features=0xbfebfbff<FPU,VME,DE,PSE,TSC,MSR,PAE,MCE,CX8,APIC,SEP,MTRR,PGE,MCA,CMOV,PAT,PSE36,CLFLUS H,DTS,ACPI,MMX,FXSR,SSE,SSE2,SS,HTT,TM,PBE> So far we have tested 2 new CPUs, and both seem bad in that I get random crashes when doing a buildworld. Dont know if its some strange motherboard interaction or not, but the same MB works great with a plain old P4. Timecounter "i8254" frequency 1193182 Hz CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.66GHz (2667.13-MHz 686-class CPU) Origin = "GenuineIntel" Id = 0xf29 Stepping = 9 Features=0xbfebfbff<FPU,VME,DE,PSE,TSC,MSR,PAE,MCE,CX8,APIC,SEP,MTRR,PGE,MCA,CMOV,PAT,PSE36,CLFLUSH,DTS,ACPI,MMX,FXSR,SSE,SSE2,SS,HTT,TM,PBE> It would seem like its just a bad luck issue with 2 CPUs both "bad" or perhaps the motherboard not liking these Celerons? But its the first time I have ever gotten 2 bad CPUs in a row. Just to rule out the unlikely, has anyone run a celeron with Id = 0xf29 on FreeBSD 4.x with good results ?
