Because software which has compiler conditionals tends to grow broken code in
the non-gcc case (at least in open source code and for the code Intel got
problem reports for). Additionally Intels want's to use icc as a gcc
replacement. Don't question it, I already did it. And I was told they had a
lot of discussions regarding this. What we see is the final decission.
