Did you tried to rename the symbol in the plugin instead (objcopy  
--redefine-sym old=new)? This way we wouldn't have to add stuff we  
don't use natively.

To change an environment variable in tcsh you use: setenv NAME "value"
where NAME is the name of the variable and "value" its new value.
