None of those are things that are on the "Must read" list for people
tracking -STABLE, instead of -RELEASE. I believe UPDATING is the only
such document.

FWIW, I ran into this, and asked about it on -questions. Got the
solution, then finally got around to making ssh forward X11 properly
so I no longer use it.
