For our mirror (ftp.br.freebsd.org) I decided that: 1) alpha is not common in Brasil, so I will not carry any alpha stuff 2) sparc64 will be at this same status, at least for a while 3) I try to keep at least the last -release, and some other useful release. For example, we already have 5.0-dp2. This decision is based on my personal feelings for the general brasilian need. I always listen on the local lists for any complains. For example, we did not carry ISO images, until the lists asked for then. Now most of our traffic is for ISO images. All mirror is done by mirror, a perl port, via ftp connections. Probably not the best option, but something we use for years now, and did not need to change yet. This port allows for refuse patterns, accept patterns, delete ratio, and lot of other useful parameters. If packages were not concentrated on packages/All subdir, I would even select some languages to remove. Again, this may not be a good politics for a primary ftp site, but in Brasil it is not very easy yet to keep a full repository.
