I *think* I saw a commit that made FreeBSD use libcxxrt in even when using
gcc-4.2.1. I am not sure if that includes powerpc64. amd64 uses the external
toochain so it's not an issue there.

However, I didn't explain properly but the issue is not really that:

1) The PR is from 2004, we have brought new version of gcc and it's
dependencies since then.
2) We are not generating libsupc++.a  any more:

So I think we can safely close this.
