The modem is then connected to the splitter (whcih seperates ADSL and regular PSTN phone frequencies). However, unlike with most cable modems, that simply use TCP/IP over Ethernet, ADSL requires the PPtP package (sort of PPP over ethernet). I know there is a PPTP for LINUX package out there (which I suppose can be used with LINUX compatibility mode on BSD) but I haven't heard of a dedicated PPtP package for BSD.
