Running the COFF binary of Sybase System 10.x isql on a FreeBSD 2.1.5-R
system with ibcs2 enabled causes the program to exit immediately (less
than 1/4 second) with
  Alarm clock

Any ideas? Is ibcs2 networking binary compatibility a pipedream?

I can tell the program looks for a valid entry in $SYBASE/interfaces
because it will report an invalid server if one is specified that's not
in the interface file.

I'd *really* like to run Sybase client apps from FreeBSD instead of toy
OS's like NT and SCO. :(
