Replying to my own post, I have found, I think, a problem source, in port
graphics/libexif-gtk.  It seems to give an error that looks very much
alike.  I haven't figured it out yet, but this is hopefully a helpful
hint.  I'll keep on working away at it, if you get anything, drop me a
line, please.

Understand, I'm not saying that the x11-fm/nautilus2 port is broken, just
that it's broken for me, for my set of dependencies.  Maybe it might have
something to do with the fact that I'm on a amd64?

I guess it *might* be broken for everyone, but I rather doubt that.
