It definitely doesn't work without them. The reasons are: 1) there is no 'stop' command, blame the developers. also the rc.subr doesn't play nicely with command_interpreter 2) start has to come before the args not after. If you can suggest a better way before I have time to delve into the root issues of #1 go for it.
