First, read the KSysGuard handbook. It has a few pointers for FreeBSD. 
ksysguardd must be owned by group kmem, and must be setgid.

Second, you must either have ssh working properly, or start ksysguardd 
manually before you start ksysguard using a daemon connection. I found that 
using ssh is the easiest. Read the FreeBSD handbook on OpenSSH, turn on sshd 
in sysinstall, and generate your keys. To see if it works, type:

ssh localhost ksysguardd

and you should see the ksysguardd prompt (type quit to quit). Then start up 
ksysguard.
