It dumps core on me when I startup a number of threads as well, though
it doesn't seem locked to a specific number.

I've pretty much given up on 1.0.2 stuff since I want to port 1.1.  But,
Sun hasn't responded to my 1.1 request for source, so nothing is
happening on that front.
