Add 'hw.ata.ata_dma=0' to your /boot/loader.conf script.  This will
prevent FreeBSD from doing DMA to them.  If the BIOS has issues, you
have to fix it there.

*OR*

You have to get a CF <-> IDE adapter that has the two new wires on it
or retrofit the old one(s) that you have.
