	Umm, no, he's not.

	Depends on the machine, but on most of the systems that I've worked on,
it's been trivial.  Besides, you want to tune the kernel so you only load
the drivers you need and get rid of the fluff.

	Nope.  Unless there's a way to do a loadable kernel module to support the
sound card.  I'm not too certain about such things, and I'll leave it to the
others to field that question.

	It is.

	Compiling a kernel is a "right of passage" for most FreeBSD users.  If you
don't know how to do something that simple, there's a lot of things that
will confuse you even further about the system when you're dealing with the
guts of it.  Greg Lehey's "The Complete FreeBSD" does a good job of
discussing how and why to recompile a kernel, and I'm sure there are
tutorials on the various BSD support sites out there describing the process
as well.
