we used to have a whole lot of these:

des@dwp /home/cvsup/freebsd/mail/archive% ls -d 1999/cvs-*
1999/cvs-CVSROOT/ 1999/cvs-gnu/ 1999/cvs-sbin/
1999/cvs-all/ 1999/cvs-include/ 1999/cvs-share/
1999/cvs-bin/ 1999/cvs-kerberosIV/ 1999/cvs-sys/
1999/cvs-contrib/ 1999/cvs-lib/ 1999/cvs-tools/
1999/cvs-distrib/ 1999/cvs-libexec/ 1999/cvs-user/
1999/cvs-doc/ 1999/cvs-lkm/ 1999/cvs-usrbin/
1999/cvs-eBones/ 1999/cvs-other/ 1999/cvs-usrsbin/
1999/cvs-etc/ 1999/cvs-ports/ 1999/cvs-www/
1999/cvs-games/ 1999/cvs-release/

most of them were discontinued sometime in 1999; cvs-src, cvs-ports
and cvs-doc were resurrected when the repo was split, which was pretty
much the same time as the switch to mailman.
