Users of slow systems lost many hours of compile time to build the same
portname.  While your point about the "reduced" kde3 having always been
a POLA violation is well taken, that's also kind of a developer's point
of view.  From userspace the POLA violation is the compile time.

That having said, I'm intending to install the whole thing; I'll try
to report back on the delta time.
