I've got a couple of IDE cdroms that, on boot/probe, put a line as follows in the log: wdc1: unit 0 (atapi): <NEC CD-ROM DRIVE:282/3.05>, removable, dma, iordy (lots of whitespace between 'NEC' and 'CD') what I'm wondering about is if NEC has a strange string in its firmware or if atapi.c needs to clean up for this or both I took a look in atapi.c and as far as I can tell, it only cleans up trailing garbage....
