you don't need either of these - the module will be loaded as
needed. But anyway... do you have atapicd in your kernel config? I'm
guessing you do though, if your CD is detected at boot time. There are a
couple of other ata things you need, check GENERIC...

also try remaking the device, with "cd /dev; sh MAKEDEV all" if you haven't
already.
