You should be able to do this with an awk(1) script. However, I am not
sure all Linux distributions even use the same format for the passwd
files. I do know that RedHat can use an /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow
file. Each contains info that is not in the other. This can make
things a bit tricky since they must be merged to make a FreeBSD
/etc/master.passwd.
