Sounds like FBSD is not seeing the hard drive well enough to write to it.
Have you had this disk and Motherboard working with some other OS, or is
this a new installation?  If you have not had this hard drive working with
this motherboard in the past then perhaps there is some kind of cabling or
jumpering issue here.
