G'day everyone,

I've had this laptop for nearly 2.5 years and for at least two years
had sound working AOK with (I believe)

options PNPBIOS
device pcm

in the kernel config. At some point last year I rearranged my disk
partitions and reinstalled FreeBSD then upgraded to 4-stable. I hadn't
kept my kernel file (big mistake!) and adding the above did not bring
back my sound. Looking through archives it appears these lines have
been successful for other users of this model laptop so I don't know what
has happened. I have tried many other variations including specifying
irq's, ports etc the same as windows uses (I triple boot with BeOS and
Win2K). No joy. Can anyone using this laptop tell me whether they had
anything change on them over the last 6 months or so? (It could have been
that long since I used sound in FreeBSD.) Does anyone have any suggestions
to try? I've spent so long at this that I can't think straight anymore.

More details are below. You can see from #17 below that I have tried many
kernel configs, and this is just with my latest checkout of stable,
there were many other tries as well, too numerous too mention here
unless someone wants all the gruesome details.

Thanks,
Greg
