A) This message is more appropriate for freebsd-current@freebsd.org.

B) If you don't know why MAKEDEV is irrelevant in 5.0-current, you should
probably reconsider your decision to use it. Sorry if that sounds harsh,
but I would suggest at a minimum that you catch up on that reading you
mentioned....
