What I found most amusing about this was that the cry came from the 
anti-bloat heartland.  Whoever would have thought that they would use 
something so inefficient and frivolous?

In fact, I was already in receipt of an offer from what appears to be a 
completely serious volunteer who has indicated a desire to ensure that 
all of the QC models are supported.  This will almost certainly be done 
in userspace, either with the ppi(4) interface or using direct port I/O.
