The following reply was made to PR misc/50053; it has been noted by GNATS. From: Deutscher Stefan <Deutscher.Stefan@bcg.com> To: freebsd-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org, sad@mailaps.org Cc: Subject: Re: misc/50053: FreeBSD 4.7/5.0 machine dies on scanpci & XFree ( solved) Date: Wed, 23 Apr 2003 21:35:41 +0200 Hi, the release of FreeBSD 4.8 has fixed the problem: With XFree 4.3.0, the machine does not lock anymore upon scanpci or startx. xf86config identifies my Number Nine FX-330 Vision (S3-764/Trio64) graphics card as not supported, with a Matrox Millenium X comes up just fine. I then upgraded XFree86 to 4.3.0 on my 4.7-Release install, and it comes up just fine as well. So that one is solved. Alas, now I hit some SMP bug, since gnome2 with SMP enabled results in a kernel dump sooner or later. Cheers, Stefan
