Jeremiah, 

  What NIC are you using? I had the same issue because I had commented out
all of the NICs except the one I use. Only the one I use was dependant upon
the miibus setting. As soon as I uncommented out the miibus line, and
recompiled, it worked great. So try to uncomment that line and recompile.

I have tried to custom compile my kernel several times today, with equally
poor results.  I have attached the kernel configuration (AMNESIAC) and the
output of the kernel error (kernelerror.txt)
